What does it mean to be 'Saved?' 'Saved, and Salvation' are terms used to describe the action we take as individuals when we give up our own plan for our lives-and align ourselves with God's plan. It refers to the fact that once you do align with God, he promises to 'save' you from the fires of hell! How do we do this? Go to the New Testament in the Bible. In the Gospel of John chapter 3 and verse 16, Jesus tells us that 'God expressed His love for the world in this way: He gave His only Son so whoever believes in Him will not face everlasting destruction, but will have everlasting life' In this verse, God's love is revealed. Why do we need a Savior? The Word, our written instruction from God, tells us we have a sinful nature that does not live up to God's standard. "You see, all have sinned, and all their futile attempts to reach God and His Glory fail." (Romans 3:23) Our life is so sinful that nothing we could ever do would be good enough to make up for what we do wrong. Therefore, God Himself made a plan to redeem people from their sins and allow us to return to Him when we leave this life. Here's God's wonderful plan! 'He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe in the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.' (John 3:36) Our choice to sin, results in spiritual death, meaning we will be separated from our Holy God...forever! There is only ONE remedy for our sin and separation from God. Jesus IS THE WAY. He became the bridge between sinful man and Holy God. Our responsibility is to 'walk across the bridge'! Christ became the sinless sacrifice for our sin. He paid the penalty and bridged the gap between you and God. So, what is the cost of such a valuable gift? That is the best part, everyone can afford it...it's FREE! 'For it's by God's grace you have been saved. You receive it through faith. It is not through our plan or our effort, it's God's gift, pure and simple. You did not earn it, not one of us did, so don't go around bragging that you must have done something amazing'. (Ephesians 2:8-9) How do I get this wonderful gift? That's easy...you just ask for it! "But those who hear and trust the beckoning of the Divine Voice and embrace Him, they shall be reborn as children of God; He bestows His birthright not by human power or initiative but by God's will. Because we can only be reborn to God by accepting His call." You can pray a simple prayer to receive this beautiful gift of eternal life from Jesus, right where you are!
